Installation

At your place.
Step by step.

NervaBrain runs in Docker and keeps the vault on your disk. This guide covers installation, first access, optional AI connection, and useful checks.

Quick start

Four commands.
Then guided setup.

Install Git and Docker Engine or Docker Desktop, then make sure docker compose version responds. The script creates your .env and local secrets.

Docker Compose v2 Git Linux, macOS, or VPS Port 3000 available
Terminal
git clone https://github.com/paulgdl9/nervabrain.git
cd nervabrain
./scripts/init-env.sh
docker compose up -d --build
Then open localhost:3000/setup

Setup handles the rest

Your system,
not a generic template.

  1. 01
    Define your context

Language, timezone, life areas, and goals shape the initial vault.

  2. 02
    Enable useful modules

Finance, budget, training, and custom spaces remain optional.

  3. 03
    Connect AI, or skip it

Claude and Codex are optional. No provider is required.

  4. 04
    Open the vault

Obsidian, Git, or your usual editor see simple Markdown files.

Local by default.

The dashboard listens on 127.0.0.1:3000. Nothing is public in a standard installation.

Remote access is explicit.

Add Cloudflare Access, a VPN, or LAN access later. Opening the network is a separate decision.

Ready to open your vault?

Install locally.
Decide the rest later.
